WATAP Partners

University of Washington Center for Technology Disability Studies is the lead agency for WATAP. Partnering with UWCTDS staff and faculty, WATAP is able to provide hands-on demonstrations and short-term loans of assistive technology devices to help potential users make informed decisions about using specific devices and related services. Additional services offered include information and referral, training, and technical assistance. UWCTDS is located within the Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD) University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD)

The University of Washington Medical Center Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and WATAP partner to incorporate assistive technology availability and selection as part of patient care and service.

Washington Access Fund provides low interest loans for the purchase of assistive technology devices and services through the Assistive Technology Loan and the Business Equipment (Telework) Loan programs. The Washington Access Fund also provides a low-cost rental program for closed circuit magnification systems (CCTVs).

Easter Seals Washington offers refurbished computers and related equipment for employment, education and independent living. WATAP also partners with Easters Seals Washington to operate a device demonstration center out their office in Spokane, WA.

The Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center (MARC) is hosted by WATAP and provides access to a series of video demonstrations and text guides/tutorials that explore accessibility solutions in Microsoft Windows, Office and Internet Explorer.

Timberland Regional Library (TRL) is an Intercounty Rural Library District, providing library services to the residents of five counties in Southwest Washington State. In collaboration with WATAP, TRL manages Aids for Better Living, a small collection of assistive devices that can be borrowed at local library branches to encourage consideration of how assistive devices may promote greater independence.

Special Education Technology Center (SETC), located at Central Washington University, and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) partner with WATAP’s Device Borrowing program to provide short term loans of assistive technology to special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and technology specialists in the school districts throughout WA state.

Washington Education Association, UWCTDS, and WATAP have teamed up to offer special topics courses in special education law available for WEA members, including AT for Educators, and Transition to Postsecondary Life.
