Device Demonstration

Through hands-on guidance of knowledgeable and experience Assistive Technology Specialists, consumers receive impartial demonstrations of product features that will help accomplish tasks at school, work, home and in the community. This free service is offered by appointment to individuals with disabilities, their family members and support providers at our Seattle location, partner organizations and around the state as requested by local communities. WATAP also hosts the Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center where you can view video demonstrations, text guides and tutorials. If you are interested in a device demonstration at our Seattle location or by WATAP staff in your community, contact WATAP at 1-800-214-8731 or watap@uw.edu

Partner locations:

  • Computer access, low vision, and daily living demonstrations are conducted in Spokane through partnership with the Assistive Technology Center at Easter Seals Washington. To arrange a demonstration, contact Easter Seals at 509-326-8292.
  • Students and their families can try assistive technology to support learning in a culturally and linguistically appropriate environment at Open Doors for Multicultural Families. To arrange a demonstration, contact Open Doors for Multicultural Families at 253-216-4479.


Device Lending

The opportunity to try a device in the environment where it will be used empowers individuals to make an independent decision about what device will fit them best before making a financial commitment. Borrow Assistive Technology from the Device Demo and Lending Library and WATAP will ship the devices to you anywhere in Washington State. The borrow period is for 21 days with an option for short extensions, the purpose of the service is to let you try them out to see if the device suits your needs. There is a nominal fee for borrowing based on the value and cost of maintaining the item.
